Venus Williams Goes Flesh Tone

This seems to have set the internet atwitter: Venus Williams sported an outfit at the Australian Open yesterday that involved an opaque, flesh-toned short pant as part of her tennis gear.

The whole hubbub seems to play on the fact that because her underwear matched her skin tone, it appeared she was flashing too much flesh. However, I suspect no one would have blinked if a light-skinned person was wearing a flesh-tone short pant.

I think it caught people by surprise that you can get flesh-toned gear for dark skinned people too. My other suspicion is that it’s the salacious content of the commentators’ minds that might be an issue!

In fact, I was tickled pink (or perhaps light ivory) that there is a company that is catering to the desire of all folks of all skin colors to have flesh-toned skivvies. After all, that vapid color called “nude” is not nude for everyone.

Which brings me to MySkins. Their website has an astonishing selection of bras and panties in a rainbow of human skin-tone colors. You can get a t-shirt bra, convertible bra or plunge bra, all with seamless cups. Panties come in a girl short, full cut brief or thong. You can buy completely seam free versions of these panties as well.

And here’s to Venus Williams who keeps shaking folks up with her interesting tennis outfits!
