Underwear Can Change The World

Yes, indeed: organic underwear can change the world, at least if you buy from PACT.

PACT is a new underwear brand that allows both men and women to choose to shop for skivvies by cause, by print or by fit in sizes XS to L. (Unfortunately, if you are more voluptuous than that, you’ll have to buy these cute pieces as gifts for others.)

Women’s underwear comes in thong, bikini and boy short. Men’s underwear comes in trunk, boxer brief and boxer.

Style does not affect the cause that is supported; it’s all about print for PACT. If you buy a certain print, you will automatically support a particular cause: for instance, if you buy the Oceana print, 10 per cent of your sale will go to protecting oceans.

PACT supports three good causes that most of us would be happy to see more money go: literacy; forest; and, oceans. In each case, 10 per cent of the sale of the relevant pattern heads off to the particular cause.

PACT is taking steps to be environmental and socially conscious in every step. Manufacturing itself is being done to the highest environmental standards near where the cotton is grown in Turkey.

Materials are as clean as the company. The underwear are made of 5 per cent elastane and 95 per cent organic cotton. (Organic cotton is a great choice as cotton is one of the most pesticide-intensive crops grown by humans.) Regardless of which print or style you buy, the undies are all the same price - $24.00.

Now, this might seem a lot for skivvies, but if you consider other organic choices, the price is actually quite comparable. And those expensive designer organic undies won’t be donating monies to your favorite cause either. Given that PACT’s donation percentage is 10 per cent of sales, you can take pride that $2.40 is going to a charity with each pair.

This combination of environmental smarts with a conscience was developed in partnership with Yves Behar of fuseproject, a design firm with an edgy and modern approach.

Here’s hoping that this innovative approach to greening our world takes off.
