Triumph Sponsors Bra Design Contest

If you are a fashion and design student, and you are interested in a career in lingerie, here’s the competition for you! Triumph, one of the largest lingerie and underwear manufacturers out there, is sponsoring its second Inspiration Award.

The motto for this year’s contest is “Icons”.

The intent of the competition is to create a design based on an icon that the contestant selects. Then, the design student needs to create a one-of-a-kind set of bra and panties, based on their concept.

There’s a nice pot of prize money for the winner of this competition. First place will net you 15,000 Euros as well as a chance to adapt your winning entry into a commercial underwear set with the Triumph design team. You could see your creation in Triumph stores as a limited run item in 2010. Second and third place winners also get a nice prize: 10,000 and 5,000 Euros respectively.

Each country will send a national winner to the finals. However, even if you don’t win the finals, you get a great opportunity if you win the national contests. Each national winner will get a chance to take part in International Finals during the Milan Fashion Week, which is a great way to get exposure in the fashion design community.

For those of us who are not in design, we can help our favorite entry win the prize. If you go to the Triumph Inspiration Award site, you can vote on which entry you think should get top place. Just voting can get you a nice return: one person will get to travel to Milan for the International Finals, to represent the online voting community.

In 2008, Triumph awarded design student Midori Matsuo of Japan with the top prize for the design “Under Skin”. Commercial versions of this design will be available in August of this year.
