It’s 60 Years For Chantelle

Here’s a lingerie brand that has made it through for 60 years: they must be doing something right!

In fact, Chantelle’s history in the undergarment business stretches back over 100 years, to 1876. The company was originally spawned by Mr. Gamichon, an innovative clothier who developed the first stretchable knit fabrics.

The company’s name was changed to Chantelle when it established itself as “the” brand for women’s girdles with the slogan “Chantelle, the girdle that does not creep.” (For those of us who have never worn such a garment, we just don’t know how lucky we are to only know Spanx and similar shapewear. But my mother can give you an earful about girdles.)

Chantelle built on their reputation by making and marketing bras, starting in the early 1960’s. Their product line has expanded since then to include a wide range of women’s undergarments. You can buy a range of styles in both bras and panties, as well as other fashion pieces to clothe you for the boudoir.

Chantelle knows how to take a bra from ordinary to extraordinary with luxurious details and fabrics. This could be French lingerie at its best.

My personal favorites from the 2009-2010 Fall-Winter Collection are the “C Chic” and the “Rive Gauche”. The great news (if you are looking for some deliciously sensual undergarments) is that both of these styles of Chantelle lingerie are available at our retail partner, Bare Necessities. The C-Chic Underwire Bra comes in sizes from 32C to 44H! The Rive Gauche T-Shirt Bra comes in sizes from 30C to 38F. Both have matching panties.

You can also buy Rive Gauche in a seamed underwire or demi bra. The demi bra has only a very limited size selection on the Bare Necessities site. Both the Chantelle Africa Wild T-Shirt Bra and Africa Mesh Underwire Bra are on sale right now, at 40 per cent off! (Click on the icon on the top right of your page to see just what Bare Necessities carries.)

In my opinion, this is one of the best brands out there. It’s not inexpensive - as a result, it pays to get it on sale. You won’t be disappointed: Chantelle is known for its quality product, attention to detail and sexy yet sophisticated pieces.
