It Doesn’t Matter What The Size - Get The Fit Right

There is yet another gadget on the market to help you get your girls “perky” - it’s called the Tweakerz, and it’s designed to clamp your bra straps together on your back, just above the shoulder blades, to give you “breasts [that] will be lifted and youthful”.

I’m starting to feel a bit like Scrooge, but to Tweakerz I say “Humbug”. Just buy a bra that fits properly and you won’t have to yank your bra straps together across your back.

For that matter, if you want back support, buy a bra that’s built with proper back support. I just purchased a lovely and comfortable bra that had what I would describe as a “full back”. There was no back closure: instead it hooked closed at the front. It’s got the best back support I’ve ever had.

Back to Tweakerz: you can save your $14.95 plus $2.95 shipping and do what friends of mine did as teenagers - tie your bra straps together at the back. Or - you can buy a bra that fits.

Think that fit and style of bra doesn’t matter? Well if our endless discussion of it hasn’t convinced you, check out the difference between two sports bras on The Doctors’ website. The afternoon talk show featured this video segment just last week. The video itself is very instructive - whether you are interested in buying a Natori sports bra or not.

After watching, I am very interested in the Natori. I used to run cross-country but gave it up as my breasts passed the D cup size. I just couldn’t find a bra that reduced motion effectively without the old-style compression approach. (Think “uniboob”.) With my bust size currently sitting at 38DD, I assure you that I am not running when I do a workout at the gym! But I could be - if this bra works as well for us larger folks as it does for the tester.

One caveat as you watch this video: the professional bra fitter measures the bra tester as a 30 band, and then says that the tester has to take a 32 because that’s where the Natori sizes start. This is an automatic failure to size the tester properly. The fitter must have been unable to size for anything but Natori - but its very misleading for anyone who thinks this is how it should be done.

Actually, this is an example of a classic mistake that many women make. Often, women buy a bra that “fits” by going up a band size so they don’t have to go up a cup size. This results in bras where the band does not stay level and the back pulls up.

In other words - don’t be hung up on the brand. Buy the bra that actually fits you. This also means that if you are a 30D, you’ll need to check out a brand other than Natori. You might want to look at Dr Marla’s when it hits the market in October. It sounds very interesting - and is supposed to reduce breast movement in all directions.
