Glow In The Dark Lingerie

You’d think that lingerie that glowed in the dark would just be a Halloween gag gift.

You’d be wrong!

The latest international hit is from Australian Jan Hawley. Hawley says that her grown sons urged her to make the pieces in her LuminoGlow collection sexier. Hawley says, “We’ve called it the Boudoir collection because it’s strictly for the bedroom after dark.”

Hawley’s original collection depended on the glow in the dark aspect for its novelty, but was made to wear during the day as well as for that special something in the bedroom. The new collection has gone in another direction: it’s not meant for day wear, but just for the bedroom.

Hawley describes it as “easy to whip on, but even easier to whip off.”

It seems to have been the influence of her sons that has really moved her lingerie in a new direction. Hawley’s sons took a keen interest in their mother’s work, suggesting more cleavage and very tiny underwear resulting in even tinier bras and panties. However, Hawley says that the main idea behind the collection - right from the beginning - was injecting some fun in the bedroom.

Hawley’s lingerie has certainly generated some interest: she’s now selling it around the world, including the US and several European countries. All this from a small business that began in a remote part of Australia!

Hawley started the company with her husband. Initially, they both kept their day jobs and designed lingerie together over the dinner table. Now they both work for the multinational lingerie company that began in their home.

Hawley doesn’t have any problem discussing knickers with her grown sons. In fact, she says that it’s hilarious to talk with her sons about what they think looks good in lingerie. Hawley’s only concern is that the fun that she is having making lingerie is coming through in the designs that folks are buying in the stores.

The LuminoGlow website still has the 2008 - 2009 collection available for purchase. I love the more traditional - maybe even classic - style of last year’s collection. The new collection is younger perhaps and has a lot of items that are “one size fits all”: it simplifies shopping but clearly this collection is not designed for support!
