Fred & Ginger’s Spring 2010 Collection

This is a lingerie maker that knows how to put a bit of fun back into “boudoir lingerie”. (Boudoir lingerie is the stuff you wear for only a short period of time - if you know what I mean.)

Fred & Ginger is a UK lingerie brand. They are a relative newcomer to the scene, having hit the ground running in September 2007.

Their new collection is called “My Fair Lady” (harking back to the classic movie with Audrey Hepburn), but you really have to think 1950’s burlesque when you think of the collection. The female model has white-blond hair (reminiscent of Jane Mansfield, one of the blond bombshells from the 50’s) with a male admirer done in classic Marcel Marceau attire, including white face makeup.

The website shows a slide show of the pieces. There is a real 50’s pinup feel to many of the photos.

The lingerie does have a vintage 1950’s feel - with lovely, cotton candy colors. The pieces feature silk stains, crinkle chiffons and Chantilly lace, embellished with polka dots, piping, ruffles, bows and Swarovski crystals.

This is a departure from their 2009/2010 Autumn Winter collection, called “Lights, Camera, Action!” which was very dark in tone and much more edgy. However, the brand continues with the movie theme.
