Bra Straps

To Show Or Not To Show?

Beaded bra straps?

That is what Lucky Lady Bra Straps are - fully beaded bra straps so that you can replace that completely ordinary bra strap and have something sassy.

In fact, lingerie accessories are becoming a new fashion statement. Brands like Bosom Buddies and Strapits are out there with Lucky Lady, selling the consumer on the idea that not only can you change your bra straps, but they should be shown instead of hidden.

While I suspect there is a real market for this, I wonder how many of us ascribe to the “bra strap as fashion accessory” club. It certainly bucks the trend to bras which are working hard at being less conspicuous. The T-shirt bra comes to mind, that completely smooth garment designed to look just like you - but moreso - rather than stand out. Molded cup bras are another contended in this category. These are garments designed to make what you wear on the outside look perfect.

Which brings me back to bra straps that show. In the vast majority of cases, this isn’t a fashion statement so much as a fashion faux pas. Have you ever seen anyone walk the red carpet and have a bra strap on display?

Don’t get me wrong - some of these decorated straps are gorgeous! I can see wearing them on a lovely bra under an outfit that keeps your delicious undergarments a secret. They come in a variety of price points, so you can decide for yourself how much you want to dress up or dress down a bra. Some straps can be over $40 for beads and gold or silver, while delicate ribbons or lace could be as little as $3 for a pair.

Think of it as the equivalent of “pimping your ride” for lingerie.

Keep in mind that you can’t change the straps on every bra. You need a convertible bra or a strapless model that will allow straps to be added.

One last thing: our retail partner, Bare Necessities, has their semi-annual clearance event on now. You could find that perfect bra at 50 % off. They’ve got some of my favorite brands on sale, including La Perla, Glamorise, Panache, Goddess and Chantelle. But that’s not all. Your favorite go-to brands like Warner and Wacoal are on sale too. If you are into designer lingerie, you can even find Betsey Johnson Intimates and Dolce and Gabbana.
