Agent Provocateur Sells New Autumn Line With Comic Book Campaign

Agent Provocateur is known for its innovative marketing. They’ve been a hit of the celebrity set - which has led them to use both the famous and infamous as models for their lingerie. (There have been some very interesting campaigns with the Geldof sisters, Peaches and Pixie.)

Agent Provocateur’s autumn line is called New World Order - and they are again doing something novel with their marketing. This time, they’ve developed a “comic book” approach, which embeds their lingerie in a pseudo-SF story of genetically-enhanced superwomen on a mission to the planet Earth.

As usual, AP has some great pieces - but I’m not sure I’d qualify as a genetically-enhanced superwoman. Given the approach, it’s clear that AP continues to target a younger demographic.

However, they haven’t forgotten that their customers’ sexual exploits can result in babies. The only problem is that the sense of fun and heightened sexual appeal that is part of the Agent Provocateur brand seems to go out the window for their maternity wear. The AP website shows only 2 maternity bras and they remind me of a bra that my grandmother might wear - except in better colors. Shame on AP. I expected much better of them. After all, just because a woman is pregnant doesn’t mean that she loses all her appeal. (In fact, I’ve spoken with many men who find their women even more sexy when pregnant!)

Of course, AP doesn’t really have the size range to handle pregnancy well. The largest band size is 38 and only select sizes come in cups up to DD. Since some of us are over-achievers when it comes to the increase in our breast size, we would not be able to buy a maternity bra in this line.

AP does fall in love with you all over again once the baby is born. You can purchase a Cupid Post Control Brief so that even though you’ve just had that baby - no one will ever know. The Post Control Brief comes with some lovely detailing and garters to hold up your stockings - a nice sexy addition.

These are the kind of briefs to get you back into the condition you just got out of - exactly what we’d expect from Agent Provocateur.
