A Good Reason To Get Some Support

Tennis is a high impact sport. If you didn’t know that before, you definitely know it after watching Caroline Wozniacki’s winning match at the US Open yesterday. She defeated top-ranked Svetlana Kuznetsova, but may have done permanent damage to her breasts in the process.

You see, Wozniacki is very large busted. She was not wearing a good supportive bra.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s great to see that there are amazing female athletes with serious curves. But you’ve got to know how to take care of that body.

We’ve seen Serena Williams, another tennis ace who has both booty and bust. She’s also developed a reputation for her fashion, both on and off the court, showing that women can be powerful and still extremely female in their shape.

We’ve never seen Williams bouncing all over the court quite like Wozniacki - unless you’re talking about her feet.

For anyone who wants to play sports - whether you are large or small busted - you need the right support for the right sport. Most women who have small breasts will do fine with a typical compression bra. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to get the right bra either: a reader recently told us that she bought regular sports bras at Walmart to wear post-surgical reduction, as recommended by her surgeon! In fact, she got her sports bras for a bargain price and claimed that they were very comfortable - and had worked perfectly for her healing.

It just proves that fit is the most important factor in a bra, bar none.

If you are medium busted - in the B to C cup range - consider a bra that uses some combination of compression and encapsulation. This will give you the additional support you need and in more directions. After all, you have to support the breast tissue in all the ways it moves.

For us large-busted types, you can look at a natural-shaping bra. This means that you have cups for your size. Oprah Winfrey has endorsed the Enell Sports Bra for large breasts. The recently introduced (and soon to be on the market) Dr Marla’s Wellness Bra promises 360 degree support and improved breathing capacity because of its new design. You’ll be able to find it at JC Penney when it hits stores.
