Prima Donna Bras

The Prima Donna label has one goal – to become the world’s leading manufacturer of luxury bras and lingerie.

This European lingerie designer has a proud heritage dating back nearly 150 years, when H. Guttman & Co. was established in Germany to manufacturer women’s undergarments. The Prima Donna bras brand was first registered in 1890, as traditional corsets gave way to a new wave in women’s lingerie.

But Prima Donna bras really gained their reputation as high-end luxury garments after 1990, when the label was acquired by Van de Velde of Belgium, makers of the comparable luxury bra line Marie Jo.

Since then, Prima Donna has flourished by expanding its bra and lingerie line each year and by targeting what it calls “naturally shaped women.” In other words, leave the skinny teen bra market to someone else.

Prima Donna bras are renowned for their stunning looks and craftsmanship. Each piece is hand-made, involving more than 50 different components, and ensures a comfortable fit thanks to the generous use of satin, lace and other elegant bra materials.

Prima Donna has also identified one of the greatest needs of its market – how to find a great-looking bra that fits. To address that issue, PrimaDonna collections are in a range of sizes that is, quite simply, the broadest in the world. Women can find their favorite Prima Donna bra style in 9 different chest sizes, and 7 different cup sizes (from B-H). Altogether, that adds up to 58 different sizes in every Prima Donna collection.

Prima Donna’s design team releases two new collections every year, and the company now maintains an inventory of more than a dozen elegant collections – including several that cater to the luxury bridal lingerie market. Most Prima Donna models are available as wire bras, and many have strapless or balconnet options. As well, Prima Donna bras have matching briefs or panties, and are available in up to 30 colors.

As part of its Spring/Summer collection for 2009, Prima Donna has pushed the design limits again with two new lines: the Mayfair, a delicate push-up bra; and the Portobello, a seductive line with plenty of embroidery trimming a see-through fabric.

Prima Donna bras are available worldwide but one of the best options is to check out the new Prima Donna Styling shops in Europe and the UK. These shops give women the best choice of Prima Donna collections and sizes, with the added convenience of company staff to ensure the best fit and style for your needs.
